from nowhere to somewhere
2010 | Installative work complex: 26-channel video/audio installation (composition in collaboration with Vojislav Anicic)
«In her most recent work from nowhere to somewhere, 2010, created for the exhibition at Kunstraum Baden, the artist captures the multi-layered web of interactions between public and private areas: people sleeping on benches, in subways, at bus stops, or being simply absorbed in themselves, as well as a traffic policeman on active duty. Embedded in an installative display - white cuboids layered on top of each other, on and between which the monitors and projections are positioned - the videos demonstrate opposing forms of behavior in public space: motionless surrender and gesture-rich street ballet, the most immediate intimacy and publicity. The private is bound back to the utmost, reduced to a minimal territory in the midst of the big city hustle and bustle permeated by social and cultural actions. These fragments of perception are linked by the nuanced soundtrack, which was created in cooperation with the musician Vojislav Anicic. The sound, composed individually for each video and based on the original sound and extracted samples, gives the widely ramified setting a common pulse and interweaves the isolated sequences into a loose fabric.» (Irene Müller)
